2024/2025 Four-Year-Old Kindergarten
Requests and placement in our Four-Year-Old Kindergarten program are administered by area school districts, and there is no cost to families when you register your child(ren) through your local district.
The YMCA collaborates with area school districts to provide 4K programs that prepare children for kindergarten and beyond, focusing on a child-centered, play-based curriculum. Lead staff are Department of Public Instruction (DPI)-certified teachers.
To help support families with competing priorities like work or school, the YMCA provides before and after school programming for 4K students, called wrap care. 4K Wrap Care registration is a separate registration, and fees are associated with this program.
4K is offered in partnership with the following school districts at these locations:
- Madison Metropolitan School District at the East and West YMCAs (4K Wrap Care available)
- Sun Prairie Area School District at the Sun Prairie YMCA (4K Wrap Care available)
- Verona Area School District at Stoner Prairie Elementary
4K Wrap Care
Our 4K Wrap Care program is open only to students enrolled in our Four-Year-Old Kindergarten program.
To enroll in 4K Wrap Care, please register your child on our waitlist. Our program director will contact you to complete the process; your registration is not considered final until the director contacts you.
In our wrap program, your child will have opportunities to explore, experience, question, create and learn. We believe in developing each child individually, emotionally, physically, intellectually and socially while meeting each child’s needs and learning styles. We emphasize healthy living by providing daily physical activity and meals and snacks that follow the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
YMCA 4K Wrap Care Benefits:
- Care available 7 am-5:30 pm
- Wrap Care available on days when school is not in session

- Y Financial Assistance available and WI Shares accepted
