Whether you’re interested in performance training outside of your sport or sports, or you just want to build a healthier, stronger body, the YMCA has you covered! The Y has a variety of strength and conditioning programs designed specifically for youth and teen athletes. Whatever your motivation, our options will help kids and teens build a fit foundation or take it to the next level, all while doing it the right way.

Dry Land Strength and Conditioning for Swim

This program for boys/girls in ages 10-18 and is designed to not only advance the skills of the athletes, but to teach them how to properly train their bodies over time while building a positive relationship with the work. During the training program, we aim to increase your athlete’s strength, conditioning, flexibility and performance abilities.

We will work on speed, plyometrics and bodyweight training, as well as teaching proper mechanics and warm ups and cool downs all while focusing on sport specific instruction to better perform in the pool!

Our training program is an 13 week program meeting twice a week and will be taught by our fitness staff.

Youth Performance Training for Girls (Ages 10–14)

East YMCA

This fun and supportive program helps girls of all ability levels build confidence, strength, and coordination. Each session in this mini 4 class package focuses on developing fundamental movement skills—like balance, agility, and body awareness—through age-appropriate drills, games, and teamwork. Whether new to sports or looking to take performance to the next level, participants will grow stronger, move better, and gain the tools to stay active and confident for life.

Youth Strength & Conditioning Level 1

West YMCA

This program for boys and girls in grades 4-8 is designed to teach proper lifting techniques and how to properly train the body over time, all while building peer camaraderie. Participants will focus on building strength, conditioning, agility and performance abilities.

We will work on speed and footwork, plyometrics and bodyweight training, proper mechanics and warm ups/cool downs all while striving to reach a common goal! This is a 13-week program that meets Mon/Wed, 5:15-6:00 pm and is led by our professional fitness staff.

Youth Strength & Conditioning Level 2

West YMCA

This program for boys and girls in grades 4-8 is specifically designed for those with basic knowledge free weights and want to advance to more challenging exercises beyond our Level 1 program. We will continue to work on proper lifting techniques and how to train over time. Shared goals remain increasing strength, conditioning, agility and performance abilities.

Our 13-week program is led by professional fitness instructors and meets Tue/Thu, 5:15-6:00 pm.
