Whether you’re interested in performance training outside of your sport or sports, or you just want to build a healthier, stronger body, the YMCA has you covered! The Y has a variety of strength and conditioning programs designed specifically for youth and teen athletes. Whatever your motivation, our options will help kids and teens build a fit foundation or take it to the next level, all while doing it the right way.

Dry Land Strength and Conditioning for Swim

This program for boys/girls in ages 11-20 and is designed to not only advance the skills of the athletes, but to teach them how to properly train their bodies over time while building a positive relationship with the work. During the training program, we aim to increase your athlete’s strength, conditioning, flexibility and performance abilities.

We will work on speed, plyometrics and bodyweight training, as well as teaching proper mechanics and warm ups and cool downs all while focusing on sport specific instruction to better perform in the pool!

Our training program is an 13 week program meeting twice a week and will be taught by our fitness staff.

Youth Conditioning

This program for boys/girls in grades 4-12 is designed to increase their overall conditioning levels. During the training program, we aim to increase your child’s endurance, speed, agility and performance abilities.

This program allows for you to choose specific weeks that work best for you and your families schedule, yet still benefit from a fun and inviting atmosphere to work on your child’s fitness!

We will meet on Tuesday’s and Thursdays, June 3 – August 7; 4:00-4:45pm.

Youth Development: Level 1

This program for boys/girls in grades 4-8 is designed to not only advance the knowledge of proper lifting techniques, but to teach them how to properly train their bodies over time while building camaraderie with their peers. During the training program, we aim to increase your child’s strength, conditioning, agility and performance abilities.

We will work on speed and footwork, plyometrics and bodyweight training, as well as teaching proper mechanics and warm ups and cool downs all while building positive relationships with our team to reach a common goal!

Our training program is a 13 week program meeting twice a week and will be taught by our fitness staff.

Option A: Monday’s and Wednesday’s,  September 8 – December 10; 5:15-6:00pm in the West Y Fitness Box.

Youth Development: Level 2

This program for boys/girls in grades 4-8 and is designed to not only advance the knowledge of proper lifting techniques, but to teach them how to properly train their bodies over time. This program is specifically designed for those who have knowledge of basic free weights and want to advance to more challenging exercises. During the training program, we aim to increase your child’s strength, conditioning, agility and performance abilities.

We will work on speed and footwork, plyometrics and bodyweight training, as well as teaching proper mechanics and warm ups and cool downs all while building positive relationships with our team to reach a common goal!

Our training program is a 13 week program meeting twice a week and will be taught by our fitness staff. We will take a break during the Thanksgiving holiday week.

 

Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, Sept. 9 – Dec. 11 ; 5:15-6:00pm in the West Y Fitness Box.
