Curious about baseball? Baseball Try-It Day is a FREE opportunity for kids ages 4–12 to step onto the field, learn the fundamentals, and experience YMCA Baseball before registering for a program. Players will participate in fun, age-appropriate activities while learning hitting, throwing, catching, and base running in a welcoming, low-pressure environment led by YMCA staff.

Age Groups:

• T-Ball (Ages 4–6): 4:00–4:45 PM
• Coach & Player Pitch (Ages 7–12): 4:45–5:30 PM

Whether your child is brand new to baseball or looking to get back on the field, Baseball Try-It Day is the perfect way to experience what YMCA Baseball is all about.

Our Coach Pitch Baseball League is designed for players ages 7–9 who are ready to continue building their baseball skills in a fun, team-oriented environment. Players will develop hitting, throwing, catching, fielding, base running, and game awareness while learning teamwork, sportsmanship, and the fundamentals of game play through practices and friendly competition.

The season begins with two weeks of team practices followed by five weeks of games. Players from the Sun Prairie, East, and West YMCA branches come together for league play, providing the opportunity to compete against teams from across Dane County while continuing to develop their skills.

Games are played on Saturday mornings, with times and locations rotating weekly between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM at the East YMCA, Jamestown Huegel Park, or Sacred Hearts in Sun Prairie.

Team rosters will be sent to participants one week before the season begins. Schedules will be sent to participants the week of the first practice.

Volunteer coaches are needed.

Whether your child is picking up a glove for the first time or looking to build a stronger foundation, our Instructional Baseball Program provides a fun, supportive environment where players develop skills, confidence, and a love for the game. Through age-appropriate instruction, participants will learn throwing, catching, hitting, fielding, base running, teamwork, and sportsmanship while staying active and having fun.

Choose the division that’s right for your child:

T-Ball (Ages 4–6) – An introduction to baseball focused on fundamental skills, coordination, and having fun.

Coach Pitch (Ages 7–9) – Players continue developing hitting, fielding, throwing, and game awareness with coach-pitched baseball.

Player Pitch (Ages 10–12) – Designed for players ready to advance their skills through live pitching, defensive strategies, and game situations.

Sessions are held outdoors, giving players the opportunity to learn in a true baseball environment. In the event of inclement weather, classes will move indoors using softer plastic baseballs so participants can continue developing their skills without missing a session.

Our Player Pitch Baseball League is designed for players ages 10–12 who are ready to continue developing their skills through live pitching and game play. Players will build confidence while improving hitting, pitching, throwing, fielding, base running, and overall game strategy in a fun, team-oriented environment that emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
