It may be friends you know or some you haven’t yet met. Either way, working out with others who have similar goals will make the experience fun and motivating. Our specialty classes are designed to challenge and provide unique fitness experiences within a small group.

Calisthenics & Core

Learn how to achieve your maximum minimalist workout.  We will break down technique for bodyweight strength training exercises, and learn how to tie the movements together into a thorough full-body workout.  Equipment includes suspension rings, pull-up bars, low bars, and steps.  Exercises include L-sits, push-ups, dips, hanging leg raises, single-leg squats, and more.

Intermediate Tai Chi

Join us to embrace the gentle flow and profound benefits of this ancient practice. Rooted in the Chen Man Ch’ing (Taiwanese Yang style),  this course builds skills progressively toward mastering “The 37 Short Form”, “Yang 37 Form” or “Yang 37 Postures”.

This class is inclusive and adaptable, as participants can choose to practice standing, standing with side support or seated. Chairs will be available, and modifications are offered to ensure that everyone can engage, learn and progress. Some previous practice is helpful.

Intro to Power Training

Kettlebells II

Mobility & Breathwork: Restore, Regulate, Reconnect

Over six weeks, you’ll learn and practice the core principles of mindful movement, mobility and breathwork, progressing step by step through the fundamentals. Each session begins with mobility exercises designed to restore natural movement patterns, improve joint function, and ease tension.

You’ll then be guided through breathwork techniques that move from simple awareness to more structured patterns, helping regulate your nervous system, enhance relaxation, and cultivate clarity and presence.

This series focuses on becoming comfortable with the essentials in a thoughtful, progressive way, equipping you with practical tools to move with ease, feel grounded, and integrate mindful breath into your daily life.

Open to all levels; no prior experience required.

Power Training Intermediate/Advanced

This circuit-style class is designed for people who have some experience with basic power exercises, or who have completed Power Training or Kettlebell small group classes.  We will use dumbbells, kettlebells, landmines, barbells, and other equipment to do cleans, presses, snatches, and more.  The focus is on applying our knowledge to challenge our limits.

Pull-up and Push-up Training for Women

East YMCA

Women of all ages, fitness levels and body types will build upper body strength through body weight pushing and pulling exercises. In this 12-week program, participants will advance through stages of difficulty with the goal of completing full pull-ups and push-ups. The class gets suggested homework to do on a third day of the week because in order to see real strength gains, two to three workouts per week are necessary.

Teen Strength Foundations: 12-Week Weightlifting

East YMCA

Young athletes will get the knowledge and confidence to lift safely and effectively! This 12-week, progressive weightlifting course is designed specifically for teens, focusing on proper technique, foundational strength and age-appropriate programming. Each week builds on the last, covering major lifts like the squat, deadlift, bench press and overhead press while incorporating accessory work, mobility training and injury prevention.

Participants will learn to:

  • Perform key lifts with proper form
  • Understand basic strength programming and progression
  • Use gym equipment safely and confidently
  • Track workouts and set realistic strength goals

Led by experienced coach Jamie Robinson, our program creates a supportive and structured environment that helps teens build lifelong skills, improve athletic performance and develop healthy training habits. No experience required, just a willingness to learn and grow stronger!

Women's Weightlifting

This program is a form of strength training with positive physiological outcomes on muscles, connective tissue and bones.
