Intermediate Tai Chi

Intermediate Tai Chi builds on the basic principles and content from the beginner class, continuing with the second section of Yang-style short form. Prerequisite is previous Tai Chi experience or completion of Beginning Tai Chi.

Stepping On Fall Prevention held at West YMCA

This heavily researched and proven program reduces falls in older adults. It consists of a workshop that meets two hours a week for seven weeks. The sessions are led by a health professional and peer leader who is focused on helping you prevent falls.

This FREE program is located at our West YMCA, and advance registration is required.

The Bee's Knees

Stay fit with healthy and safe knees! We will design a thorough fitness routine around hip, ankle and core strength exercises that support and stabilize the knees and avoid provoking pain. We will highlight proper technique in squats, lunges, running strides and cycling stroke in order to alleviate excess knee stress.
Note: This class is NOT physical therapy for knee problems.

Yoga Tradition and the Eight Limbs

The eight limbs of yoga act as guidelines for living a meaningful and purposeful life. They serve as a prescription for moral and ethical conduct and self-discipline; they direct attention toward one’s health; and they help us acknowledge the spiritual aspects of our nature.

In this four-week course, participants will spend the first 10-15 minutes of each class studying the eight limbs  and the remaining time practicing poses, breathing techniques and guided meditation practices. This course will help you understand yoga’s traditions and improve movement, breathing, relaxation and focus to improve overall quality of life.
