Giving Back, in Many Ways
Every day, the Y gives our communities the support it needs to learn, grow and thrive. From advocacy to food security, disease prevention to athletics, affordable housing to swim lessons… everything the Y does helps strengthen our neighborhoods and the people who live there. Your gift helps the Y deliver lasting personal and social change.
You can choose to support our Y in a number of different ways.
Caring for Others
The YMCA is committed to making sure that everyone who wants to participate in the Y can do so, regardless of their financial situation. This is especially true for the young people we serve. We’re able keep this commitment thanks to the generosity of our Annual Campaign donors.
Many are surprised to learn that:
• Nearly 1,174 people - some as young as 6 weeks old and some over 80 years old - are able to be part of the YMCA thanks to financial assistance.
• Nobody gets a “free” membership. Even on financial assistance, all members pay a portion of their membership.
• When State or County funds are available for a Y program such as day camp, those funds are used first, so that donated dollars can be used to help others.
Caring For Our Buildings
The Y and the community has invested significant funds into the buildings that allow us to serve kids and families. In order to continue to respond to our community’s needs, from time to time, we execute capital campaigns to keep our buildings updated, safe and able to serve a changing population. Capital campaigns also help in our effort to reduce debt, ensuring that the YMCA can operate most efficiently and invest funds into programming and people.
Caring For The Future
The YMCA Endowment Fund is a permanent fund invested for growth. It provides a stable income for the YMCA, helping to sustain programs, support financial assistance or to fuel new growth for the future. Gifts of appreciated assets (stocks, real estate), bequests or cash can help permanently endow for our community.
This group of like-minded donors wants to ensure that the Y is always here to build community and to help realize potential in future generations. They generously included the YMCA of Dane County in their family’s estate planning.
